Located in the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve near Hoedspruit, Cheetah Paw Safari Lodge offers a peaceful bush setting within easy reach of Kruger National Park’s Orpen Gate (40 km).

Driving & Transfer Routes

  • Flying In & Local Transfers

    Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (HDS) is just 30 minutes from the lodge. South African Airways operates daily flights connecting Hoedspruit with Johannesburg (OR Tambo). Car rentals are available at HDS, or you can book return airport transfers directly through our team.

  • Driving from Hoedspruit / Eastgate Airport

    Approx. 30 mins

    Turn right from the airport onto the tar road and proceed 5 km to the R40. Turn left onto the R40, drive 15 km, and turn left at the Guernsey sign (just after passing the cheetah centre). Proceed to the Guernsey Nature Reserve gate, follow the tar road for 7 km until the dirt road begins, and continue straight for 4 km to the T-junction. Turn right, proceed 4 km, and turn left into the main Guernsey Private Nature Reserve gate to register.

  • Driving from Mbombela

    135 km | Approx. 2 hours

    Take the R40 north past White River, Hazyview, Bushbuckridge, and Acornhoek. Continue on the R40 for another 5 km past Acornhoek, turn right onto the Orpen Road (R531), and drive 2 km. Turn left at the Guernsey sign, proceed through the control gates for 8.5 km to the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve gate, turn right, and follow the lodge directional signs.

  • Driving from Johannesburg

    520 km | Approx. 5.5 hours

    Take the N4 past Witbank and Middelburg, turning left onto the R540 at Belfast towards Dullstroom, Lydenburg, and Ohrigstad (R36). Proceed through the Abel Erasmus Pass and Strijdom Tunnel towards Hoedspruit. In Hoedspruit, turn right onto the R40 towards White River for 22 km, turn left at the Guernsey sign, and follow the reserve road through to the main gate registration.

  • Driving from Tzaneen

    160 km | Approx. 2 hours

    Take the R71 to Gravelotte, where it becomes the R526. Continue on the R526 to the T-junction with the R40 and turn right towards Hoedspruit. Pass through Mica and Hoedspruit on the R40, proceeding for another 20 km. Turn left at the Guernsey sign, follow the reserve tar-to-dirt road for 8 km to the T-junction, turn right towards Tangala Gate, drive 4 km, and turn left into the main Guernsey Private Nature Reserve gate.

  • Driving from Phalaborwa

    120 km | Approx. 1.5 hours

    Drive south on the R40 towards Hoedspruit. Pass through Hoedspruit and continue south on the R40 for approximately 20 km (passing the cheetah centre on your left). Turn left at the Guernsey sign, proceed through the control gate, and follow the road as it transitions to dirt for 8 km to the T-junction. Turn right towards Tangala Gate, continue for 4 km, and turn left into the main Guernsey Private Nature Reserve gate to register.

Navigation Tip: Mobile coverage can drop inside reserve areas. We recommend downloading offline Google Maps for the Hoedspruit and Guernsey area prior to your journey.
